Projects

Eight projects will be working with Transformation Trust schools from September 2010. Eligible schools will be able opt for one or more of the projects best meet the needs of their pupils, subject to availability.

The Aspiring Minds project is a support programme for young people, helping young people develop the ‘can do’ attitude, motivation and personal skills required for success in the modern world.

Delivered by world class sports stars and a skilled team of trainers, Aspiring Minds gives young people the chance to learn from winners in sport, and how to use this to become winners in life. Read more >>

Blastbeat Education UK is a charity that runs a schools-based youth programme that teaches teenagers how to set up and run music and performance-based social enterprises.

Teenagers organise themselves into Music & Multimedia Companies (MMCs), to identify and promote the best musical talent in their areas. Winning bands are selected from the school concerts by a panel of industry professionals and progress to regional and national finals. Read more >>

The F1 in Schools Challenge brings the excitement and motivation of F1 into schools whilst enabling teachers to cover the required curriculum in a real and meaningful way. Students use CAD/CAM software to design, analyse, manufacture, test and race their own miniature F1 car made from balsa wood and powered by compressed gas cylinders.

Working in teams of between three and six, they prepare a business plan, develop a budget and raise sponsorship as well as designing and racing their car. Read more >>

Furthering Talent (Awards for Young Musicians) believe that all musically talented young people should have the opportunity to develop that talent – not just those from well-off families.

Many young musicians struggle to meet the prohibitive costs of funding their gift, so Awards for Young Musicians helps ensure that they can continue to make music, by providing vital financial backing and supplying the opportunities that give them the confidence to progress. Read more >>

Magic Breakfast delivers free, healthy breakfast foods to primary schools where many children arrive too hungry to learn. A typical Magic Breakfast might include a bagel, cereal, porridge and fresh orange juice. Any child wanting a Magic Breakfast gets one - there is no stigma involved.

So far Magic Breakfast delivers to 40 schools, but plan to expand to 250 across the country by 2011. Read more >>

Photofusion is London's largest independent photography and media centre providing a full range of services and state-of-the-art equipment for professionals, students, amateurs and the local community of all ages and abilities.

A core aspect of Photofusion’s education programme is the delivery of outreach projects, working in particular with socially and culturally marginalised young people, offering photographer-led creative programmes and skills-based accredited courses. Read more >>

The Shakespeare Schools Festival organises the performance of abridged Shakespeare plays by schools in professional theatres across the UK. The National Youth Theatre provides workshops to the young casts to prepare them for their performance. The Festival is non-competitive and open to young people of all backgrounds and abilities. Since its inception in 2000 the Festival has involved over 65,000 young people from more than 3,000 schools who have performed in theatres across the UK. Read more >>

Teaching Leaders' mission is to develop a movement of outstanding middle-leaders whose teams measurably raise the achievements and life chances of children in challenging inner-city schools.

The programme takes talented middle-leaders (for example, heads of department or year) on a two-year leadership and impact programme. Read more >>
