Sir Tim Brighouse
Sir Tim Brighouse has dedicated his work to education and school improvement. He began by teaching in state schools and was Professor of Education at Keele University for four years between his posts in Oxfordshire and Birmingham. He has written books on his work on school improvement, is a school governor and has been a non-executive board member of Research Machines plc. He consequently became Chief Education Officer of Birmingham and Oxfordshire before, most recently, becoming Chief Adviser for London Schools.
Tim graduated in Modern History from the University of Oxford ('61).
Lord David Puttnam
Lord Puttnam spent 30 years working as an independent film producer and has won multiple awards for his films, which include The Mission, Local Hero and Bugsy Malone. Since 1998 his focus has shifted from film production to education and the environment. He founded the National Teaching Awards in the same year, which he chaired until October 2008, and was founding Chair of the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts. He is Chancellor of the Open University. David was Vice President and Chair of Trustees at BAFTA in 1994-2004, during which time he was appointed President of UNICEF UK in July 2002 and has promoted advocacy, awareness and fundraising objectives for them.
David was awarded a CBE in 1982, received a knighthood in 1995 and was appointed to the House of Lords in 1997. In France he has been honoured as a Chevalier ('85), Officer ('92) and Commander of Arts and Letters (2006).
George Foster is the Legal Manager at Orbex, Europe’s leading private orbital launch service company. Prior to that he was a solicitor with the international law firm Jones Day advising on a range of corporate and financial matters. Through various charitable initiatives, George has been involved in several projects looking to improve social mobility by providing training and guidance to students currently going through the recruitment process. George is a graduate of Durham University with a bachelor’s in International Relations and Chinese.
