You can sign up here: by Christmas break. The first campaign would then need to have been implemented by Feb half term for the first shortlisting.

Once signed up, more details and resources will come through to support the creation and execution of their campaigns along the way. The programme is based on students really using their own initiative, so they can get started on their campaign from this point onwards.

About InspireUs - introduction for students

Inspire US is a once-in-a-lifetime fully-funded internship opportunity for sixth formers from schools nationwide to work closely with experienced campaigners in the final weeks two weeks leading up to the US presidential race in 2020.

The objective of Inspire US is to harness the passion and enthusiasm to change their local community, all while learning how to campaign alongside key players in the US political scene.

This is an exciting programme from the Trust which is open to sixth form students who have an interest in politics (students must be studying A-Level politics or a similar subject).

NB: This programme is privately funded by our corporate partners and is not linked in any way to a political party.

Inspire US 2016 was a trip of a lifetime! I was one of the lucky students who joined the Transformation Trust in their 2016 trip to America, which not only gave me life changing skills but an experience that opened doors of opportunities for me.

Firstly, seeing the ins and outs of a campaign, more specifically the presidential campaign, gave me valuable knowledge which I used for my own projects to increase political participation among young people

Secondly, working with students from across the country (from London to the northern tips of Scotland!) taught me the importance of teamwork, effective communication and networking which has helped me not only at university but in life.

Lastly, now with one foot in the door, the trip allowed me to pursue my dream career as a diplomat. Not only has it proved to be successful on my CV but has always been a focal point of conversation with academics and political professionals alike.

I want to thank The Transformation Trust for me giving me this amazing opportunity, which not only taught me valuable skills and experience but also gave me a lifetime of memories

We appreciate the help and expertise of the PSA with this fully funded campaigning trip.

We appreciate the help and expertise of the PSA with this fully funded campaigning trip.

The programme has helped me to make a real
difference in my community. It has also helped me to
understand politics in the real world, beyond the dogmatic
theory taught at A-level. The programme has also provided us
all with memories, which we shall forever cherish, and friends
across the country who will never be forgotten. Above all, the
gravity of the experience as a whole is something which can
influence, to the extent of changing lives.

It is an amazing opportunity for the often-apathetic youth
to get involved and realise their potential. It shows how
political activeness does not have an age and proves how
much of an impact it has on our lives. It is definitely a once
in a lifetime experience worth working towards as your
campaign progress and the trip is so rewarding. Extremely
glad I took part!!

Since 1950, the Political Studies Association (PSA) has been promoting the development of political studies. The majority of its members teach and research on Politics in UK universities. The PSA runs events throughout the year, publishes four leading academic journals in political science, supports specialist groups within the membership and offers focused events, training and development opportunities to support the next generation of political scientists.

The PSA is also committed to outreach beyond academia, providing resources to schools and supporting students interested in studying politics, engaging with policy makers and promoting public engagement and interest in politics through blogs, public events and digital media.

For our School members, we run workshops on studying politics at university, host CPD days in collaboration with UK Parliament for teachers, offer financial grants to schools who are looking to run events or programmes related to politics, and more! Our School Membership is only £25 a year and allows up to ten teachers, at the same school, to access our member benefits. For more information visit:
